Hey there — welcome back.
And yes, I know… I updated Book 1’s cover last year. But just like the original, I was never 100% happy with it.
A quick recap for anyone interested:
Back in 2024, I hired an artist on Fiverr to create the first cover for Dragon’s Tear: The Outcast. I was about 90% happy with it, but over time it became clear it didn’t quite fit the story the way I wanted it to — and it started to gnaw at me. Honestly, I think it may even have affected sales, which isn’t ideal considering I spent £210 on it.
Last summer, I created a second cover myself, and I was around 95% happy with that version.
Recently, though, I’ve been designing the cover for my second novel and picked up a bunch of new skills along the way — new fonts, better colour choices, stronger layouts… and if I do say so myself, it’s looking really good. So I decided to take everything I’ve learned and apply it to Book 1 too — meaning a full restart from scratch.
Now I’ve got a cover I’m 99.99% happy with, and I’m finally calling it done. (Unless I suddenly come into a ridiculous amount of disposable cash and can afford a top-tier cover artist to somehow beat it.)
So below is the updated cover — front and back. I’ve ordered a fresh copy with the new design, and I’ll share some photos when it arrives.
And there’s more: I’ll be revealing Book 2’s cover next Tuesday, the 31st.
Only three weeks to go until Book 2 launches!
